Economic Development and Environmental
- Support efforts to attract and retain companies in targeted industries considered to be the current and emerging drivers of the Lake Norman regional economy.
- Support technology-based, long-term solutions to air quality, water quality, and hazardous and solid waste issues.
Health Care
- Support shifting 100% of the Medicaid costs back to the state.
- Support initiatives that provide for Small Business Health Plans.
Local Municipalities
- Support and protect current annexation authority by municipalities.
- Support the Village of Lake Norman project pursuant to the criteria established by the Town of Cornelius.
- Encourage the creation of a lakeside park, in a public - private collaboration, providing lake access and other water related resources that stimulates the local economy and improves the quality of life for our citizens.
- Continue support for infrastructure improvements for the North Mecklenburg Industrial Park.
Mecklenburg County
- Support increased funding for market driven, high cost instruction and for competitive salaries for Central Piedmont Community College.
- Support efforts to address Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools' teacher and facility needs related to population growth.
- Support efforts to obtain and fund a magistrate for North Mecklenburg.
Tax Policies
- Support a reduction of the personal and corporate income tax rates to make North Carolina competitive with surrounding states.
- Support revision of estate and gift tax system to permit small businesses to pass without tax.
- Oppose Real Estate transfer tax.
Transportation
- Change the transportation funding formula to be equitable.
- Finish the I-485 loop and expand sections where severe congestion already exists.
- Support maintaining the integrity of the Highway Trust fund.
- Support passage of legislation enabling local governments to raise funds for local road improvement projects.
- Support increased, innovative funding for new roads and maintenance and improvement of existing roads utilizing a dedicated tax prioritizing the specific regional projects and sunsetting the funding source when the revenue for the projects has been obtained.
- Support the work of the North Carolina Turnpike Authority.
Workforce Development and Education
- Provide competitive salary increases or all educators to maintain or exceed the national average.
- Support additional facility funding needs for Charlotte-Mecklenburg K-12 schools related to population growth.
- Support funding for construction of UNC Charlotte's Energy Production and Infrastructure Center ($57,218,000).
- Support increased recurring funding of $1.5 million for UNC Charlotte's Lateral Entry Teacher Program.
- Support funding for Central Piedmont Community College's Enrollment Growth Adjustments, Allied Health and Technical Education programs.
- Support completion of the State's financial commitment to Johnson & Wales University
